Trip to Mount Hood

Last month we went to Mount Hood and was greeted with 12 inches of new snow. They now had a snow base of 152 inches. This photo is looking from the front of the lodge, but the photo below is looking toward the back!

This lodge is over 5 stories tall. Here we are looking from one icicled window to another!

Mount Hood is the only mountain in the lower 48 that has skiing year round. Olympians train here during the summer months.

Ocean Rainbow

Monday morning we were greeted with this rainbow over the ocean. I ran for my camera, but I could not force my camera to take a photo. Bob finally ran out to the car to get his small camera.

A few moments later we noticed that a second rainbow was forming above the other - for only a few brief moments, then they were both gone.

Heading to Rockaway Beach, Oregon

We are almost there. Long ago travelers took advantage of the beaches and those south of this mountain point stayed south, and those north of this point stayed north. We were lucky to have the modern road up and over.

Rockaway Beach was built as a summer resort for Portlanders in the 1920's. This community of 1200 year-round residents is the center of activity for north Tillamook County. Rockaway Beach has 7 miles of beautiful, clean sandy beaches.
